In the words of Brene Brown, researcher, storyteller, teacher, and author, she states that, “Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them. Today, I will choose courage over comfort.”
It is definitely true that when I look back, the times that I've stepped out of my comfort zone (choosing to stay at home with my daughter vs working, or starting this therapeutic photography business) is where I have begun to experience who I truly am. Another way to put it: I discovered and brought to life a part of me that I didn't know was waiting to be revealed. It's in those choices where we confront of fears and doubts.
So how do we actually find ourselves? On your journey of self-love, improving your mental-health, and being the best version of yourself, what are some actionable steps we can take?
Here are some tips:
Write down what you value, what matters to you most
Think about and write down the TOP 5 things you want people to speak about you, when you pass away
Take a personality test. There's several different kinds, but many can be a piece to the puzzle to helping you learn more about your innate strengths and talents.

After you've done this, reflect on what's preventing you from getting what you truly desire.
Have an honest discussion with yourself, or with a trusted friend or family member.
What are you afraid of?
What makes you uncomfortable?
What makes you fearful of taking changes?
Can you look back and think of times when you stepped out, and got hurt?
Write those things down, too!
We hope these are some things you can do to learn more about yourself. Also remember that self-discovery is an ongoing process. It's not like a train station that you end up at one day. So keep going, be easy on yourself, and keep improving!
Some books that have also helped me on my journey to self-discovery:
Ian Morgan Cron's - The Road Back to You
Kevin McCarthy - The On Purpose Person
Eric Geiger - Identity
