5 Tips to Pose Curvy Clients- JSeboudoir Photography - Orange County Boudoir

Updated: Jul 20

I've been asked this with different clients - if I have curvy or plus-sized clients, do I change the way I pose them?

Nope, absolutely not! There isn't any reason to.

My client's size doesn't dictate how she will appear in the image.

It's in the knowledgeability and expertise of the photographer capturing you with the lighting that is available, that makes all the difference.

Check out these two images here that I took this year.

Two differently sized yet both beautiful and worthy of love and celebration. They aren't very different in terms of posing, yet a similar image is still achieved.

But Jason, those aren't exactly the same pose. Show me how you posed two different clients, exactly the same way.

Okay, here's an example below.

So my top tips to help your client with posing:

  1. Make your directions very clear for your client

  2. Practice the poses yourself

  3. Practice communicating the poses prior to your shoot

  4. Get feedback from them during the shoot if your directions are clear/unclear

  5. Do the poses yourself! Show your client how to pose. It's part of the experience!

I hope this goes to show that I pose all of my clients exactly the same. I walk you through how to get into the pose (and honestly that's part of the fun experience you get) is watching me do the poses with you and for you!
