5 Things To Do For Every Home Boudoir Shoot With Your Wife

Irvine Boudoir Photography Coach for Married Couples

When preparing for a boudoir shoot,

  1. Share the Time Frame of Your Shoot

    1. As with massages, nail appointments, and other services, there is a start and end time. Frame this in the same way by creating the expectation for her on how long her shoot will be. This will mentally prep her on how long this experience will take her. 30 minutes to 1 hour are good intervals to start.

  2. Clean the House

    1. Clean the space that you will be capturing her in. Create a spa-like environment and set the entire mood to engage all of her senses. An added bonus is if you're able to clean the entire house in advance!

  3. Prepare Candles

    1. Engage her sense of smell and add warm mood lighting to your shoot space by lighting candles with her favorite scents. If the room you're capturing her in is small, make sure to have a window slightly open in order to increase oxygen flow - the last thing you want is for the room to become stuffy and hard to breathe in!

  4. Prepare Snacks & Hydration

    1. It will feel like a workout for you both! Make sure to have: juices, water, and her favorite snacks to eat while shooting.

  5. Set Up Your Curtain Rods with Curtains

    1. If you've been following, you know that diffused light is your best friend when shooting at home. That said: having curtain rods with white sheer curtains are what you can place over your windows and curtains. If you don't have any yet, check out our store with this link and see if it will work in your space. Scroll to the bottom to find the curtains and curtain rods - LINK

  6. Bonus: Clean Up Everything After and Have a Bubble Bath Ready for her to Unwind

    1. To show that this experience is ALL about her and has no strings attached, end the shoot when it's time, and draw a bath for her! A mix of essential oils in the tub with the candles you've already set can end her boudoir experience with a way to wind down.

Remember, boudoir photography is about capturing your wife's confidence and unique beauty, so enjoy the process and make the best experience for her by planning, prepping, and communicating from start to finish.

Hope this is helpful. Have fun during your home boudoir shoot!

Cheers,

Jason
