Decrease Social Media Usage to Improve Mental Health | Irvine California Boudoir

Orange County Therapy

If you've watched the documentary on Netflix, "The Social Dilemma", then you are aware of the the addictive quality of the smartphone and the apps on it. The software developers' goal is to generate every penny of revenue from the user, and what is the product? YOU, the phone user!

Yes, these apps play such a big part of our lives. We use them to sell used items, we use it to schedule life events and occasions, and we also use social media to stay connected to each other.

On the other hand, it also causes us to compare, compare, compare. It causes us to become envious of others' achievements and highlight reels.

For you, my everyday woman wife and mom reading this -- do you compare your body to other photos you see on social media? Look at the accounts you follow and ask yourself: how do you feel before you look at these accounts vs afterwards? How often are you left actually feeling better?

If any of these accounts you follow make you feel worse, it could be a good time to decrease your social media usage for your own mental health! You may need to pause the app or even uninstall it altogether!

Before you know it, you won't even realize what you're supposedly missing out on, and you'll feel so much better. This is one actionable step you can take toward self-care and better overall wellness!
